OUR STORY
Steve and I opened The Concord Grill the day after we were married 34 years ago. It is so hard to believe that it has been that long ago. It seems like yesterday Jim White announced the birth of our first daughter on KMOX. The "little owners" are all grown up now with kids of their own. (By the way, there is nothing better than being a grandparent.) I enjoy looking at photos of former employees, past menus, and thinking of how many themes, menus and “dining room makeovers” we have had over the years. Our customers and business associates have become our friends. We have seen you come in here on first dates, celebrating birthdays, engagements, graduations and anniversaries. We have seen you bring your children and grandchildren back to introduce them to our Concord Kids Menu. During both lunch and dinner there is a flow of regular customers. We greatly appreciate your business. It is such a great compliment when we see the same customers day after day. Believe it or not, we do know many of your names and your businesses but there are too many to list. Just know we thank everyone: friends, family, employees, and customers. A thank you to the best food company in the business – Kenrick’s Meats! I am proud to be purchasing all of our meat from Kenrick’s Meats & Catering. They are an awesome group of people to do business with. Our ground chuck is brought in fresh every morning and it is the best quality of meat I have found in 34 years. I have used many food companies over the years and there is no question who is superior above the rest.
Our team
Most of the servers you see day in and day out have been here for a very long time. They know what you are going to drink and eat when they see you walk in the door for lunch or dinner. Sometimes they need roller skates to keep up with the pace but they wouldn’t have it any other way. They look forward to seeing their "regulars," serving you and making conversation. We try to keep tabs on many of our former employees. Bussing or dishwashing positions are perfect "first jobs." One of our first bussers is now an emergency room doctor who still needs to get that American Cheeseburger fix anytime she is in town for a visit. One of our first dishwashers is now a prominent lawyer in the St. Louis area.
The picture of Josse's was given to me about 15 years ago from a customer. She said she lived in our current building when she was a little girl. Built in the early 1940's, their bedrooms were located where our kitchen is now. Our dining room was their ice cream shop. We still have their original freezer door in our hallway. She brought me this picture several months later and I held on to it. We had been trying to find more pictures of other businesses that occupied this building in the past. A mother of a former kitchen employee used to work at Velvet Freeze and brought me a picture. Our building was once Fatman's BBQ, a beauty shop and a gameroom. We moved in after another BBQ restaurant moved out. For 34 years, The Concord Grill has been family owned and operated. We hand patty every burger. 52 to choose from in 3 different sizes. Full bar, outdoor patio, kid friendly & homestyle cooking. Homemade appetizers, salad dressings, soups & side dishes. Fried Twinkies in 9 different varieties. Daily dinner specials including the popular Beef Tips and Noodles on Monday, Two pound Catfish Strips Platter on Tuesday, Sloppy Joes Sandwich or Platter on Thursdays. Homemade Chicken and Dumplings available every day. Weekday Lunch Specials, Open 7 days a week, Birthday Club, Loyalty Program, Parking Lot, Free Wifi, Music and Tv's.
